Turning pages with foot pedal or on-screen buttons
Turning pages with foot pedal or on-screen buttons
In contrast to automatic page turning, it is not necessary to set up the page by marking staves and bar lines for manual page turning. Of course, it is then necessary to turn the page manually.
This can be done using the on-screen buttons or via a connected Bluetooth foot pedal.
The behavior of the app is exactly the same for both options.
The scroll distance can be defined via the basic settings and the song settings:
- Screen: This is the default setting. It always scrolls up or down by one screen height. Unless a top of the page is reached, in which case it only scrolls up to this point.
- Seite: It always scrolls to the next or previous page.
- X Lines: The system scrolls by x lines. Attention: Line markers must be set for this. However, it is not necessary to specify the correct number of bars and the position of the bar lines in the line markers.
You can make this setting in the settings on the start page. What you set here is the default setting for all songs.
However, you can specify a different setting for a song in the basic settings:

Compatible foot pedals
All foot pedals that can be paired with your device as a programmable keyboard via Bluetooth are compatible.
These foot pedals can usually be recognized by the fact that the button codes that are sent via the foot pedals are adjustable, as is the case with this device, for example:
There are also devices that work using simulated swipe gestures. These do not work, or only poorly, with Five Lines.
If you are planning to buy a pedal and are not sure whether it will work with Five Lines, send us a short email to info@five-lines.com and we will check it for you.
Coupling the foot pedal
For precise instructions on how to pair the foot pedal, please refer to the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
As a rule, however, the following steps must be carried out:
- Make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your smartphone/tablet.
- Make sure that the foot pedal is switched on.
- Go to Bluetooth in the Android settings.
- The foot pedal should now appear with a keyboard symbol in the list of available devices.
- Tap on the device to pair it
These steps only need to be carried out once. When you switch the device on again, it should automatically reconnect to your smartphone/tablet.
Testing the foot pedal
You can test whether the foot pedal is working correctly in the settings. To do this, tap Settings on the home screen:
Scroll to the Keyboard/foot pedal section:
Make sure that the keyboard/foot pedal is switched on (5)
Make sure that the buttons that you have configured on your foot pedal are included in the list for these buttons (1,2) under Scroll up/down.
When you press the pedals, buttons 3+4 should light up briefly.
Turning pages with the on-screen buttons
There is little to explain about turning pages with the on-screen buttons. Simply tap the two large arrow buttons above the bottom toolbar:
In terms of functionality, the on-screen buttons do not differ from the two buttons on the foot pedal.
