Step 2: Using the metronome

Before starting the metronome, you need to define the tempo and ryhythm of the song.

To do this, tap on Basic Settings Music Notes Icon in the top toolbar.

Scroll down to the section Metronome and Scrolling

Set the Base Tempo and Base Rhythm for the song. As a rule this should be the tempo the song is meant to be played, and the rhythm at the beginning of the song. This tempo and rhythm is saved along with the other master data of the song, just like the title and artist.

By tapping on Tap Icon besides the numeric tempo setting, you can open a dialog where you can tap in the tempo.

To start the metronome tap on Metronome Icon in the bottom toolbar. The metronome doesn't start right away, you can make some last adjustments before you start to play.

In the dialogue that appears you can now adjust the tempo as a percentage of the original tempo. If you want to start the metronome at the tempo entered in the Basic Settings, just leave the setting Tempo [%] at 100% and tap on Play Icon again.

If you don't want this dialogue to appear every time you can disable it by enabling Remember settings and don't show this again. You can bring back the dialogue by tapping and holding the play button Play Icon in the lower toolbar.

The metronome now starts ticking at the defined tempo and rhythm. You can stop the metronome at any time by tapping on the Stop Icon or Pause Icon button in the bottom toolbar.

The metronome is also visualized at the right side of the screen.

By tapping on the metronome switch Switch Icon in the lower toolbar you can toggle the metronome on and off. This will both turn off the acoustic and visual metronome.

To finetune the metronome you have the following options:

In the Basic Settings:

In the View Settings Eye Icon:

The other available options regarding the metronome apply to automatic scrolling and are covered in another tutorial.
